Special Congregational Meeting
The members of Friedens Church of Washington are invited to attend a Special Congregational Meeting immediately following the worship service on Sunday, August 23.
The Washington County Appraisal District has informed the church that our Constitution must be amended to include a dissolution clause in order to meet current requirements. The proposed amendment to be voted on is as follows:
"Upon discontinuance of the church by dissolution or otherwise, any assets lawfully available for distribution are to be transferred to one or more organizations qualifying as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, as amended, by a majority of members attending a duly called business meeting."
Because this amendment is necessary to comply with the requirements of the Washington County Appraisal District, we encourage all active members to attend and participate in this important congregational vote.
The county requires this clause to maintain our tax-exempt status.
Thank you for your faithful support and participation in the life of our church.
In His service,
Darrin

May I take the Lord's Supper?
The apostle Paul says, "Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup." If you are a brother in the Lord and believe what we do about the sacrament, you are invited to join us. Confirmation or believer's baptism are prerequisite to communion in our church. Please feel free to call ahead or speak with the pastor on Sunday about the Eucharist.
How is the Lord's Supper distributed?
The Supper is distributed by breaking one loaf and pouring one cup on the altar, after which pieces of bread and individual cups are taken to worshipers in the pews.
