Friedens Church of Washington is seeking a full-time pastor. We are a historic, independent church founded in 1890 in the German Evangelical tradition, located 15 minutes east of Brenham, and approximately 50 minutes northwest of Houston. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and look to the scriptures for daily guidance and depend on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to prosper its creative and redemptive work in our community and in the world. We provide weekly worship services, adult and youth Christian education programs, a weekly Bible Study, and a monthly Praise Service. We are a small, active, benevolent and mission-minded congregation seeking a pastor with the following qualifications:
Loves the Lord Jesus Christ and is a person of prayer.
Grounds decisions and ministry in a Biblical perspective.
Is an inspired and compelling pastor.
Is effective in planning and leading worship and growing the membership of our church.
Is effective in working with youth and has a strong commitment to Christian education ministries.
Encourages people to apply their faith in daily life.
A Seminary/Bible College degree is preferred.
The above qualifications are not all inclusive of desired characteristics of a successful candidate. An appropriate background check, a denominational psychiatric evaluation, and references from previous church(s) are preferred by the time of application, but are not required prior to an interview. If you believe God may be calling you for this position, please email your resume to: friedenschurchofwashington@gmail.com and a church profile and position description will be provided to you. Friedens Church offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package.
Friedens is an autonomous church whose members elect officers to fixed terms, as outlined in our constitution.
The Church Council is composed of two staggered groups of five members plus the pastor. Each member of the council serves a 2 year term.
