The Chancel Choir sings every 1st Sunday during worship and practices every 4th Sunday after worship. Everyone is welcome.
Fishermen of Friedens is church service organization which undertakes physical projects at the church and within the community, such as building handicap ramps for Washington-area residents in need. This outreach ministry is driven by Christ’s words recorded in Matthew 4:19: “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” The Fishermen of Friedens Church seek to live out Jesus’ instruction to his disciples through word and deed within the Washington Community.
Friedens Church is blessed to have an organization called the Women’s Fellowship which meet every third Thursday in the Fellowship Hall at 2:15 pm. This organization is composed of very dedicated members, they are supporting the church and coordinating most of the activities of the church. The members are always busy – or as some say; they are the backbone of our church.
The women start off the year by sponsoring the annual Chili/Chicken Stew supper in February, where they participate in preparing the meal to be served that night to the public. In addition to preparing the meal, each lady of the church brings a pie to be served as dessert with the meal. This tradition has been around for many years and is always enjoyed, not only our members, but also individuals from the surrounding communities. Every year on Maundy Thursday the group host a breakfast which is open to everyone. This is a chance to share not only breakfast, but partake in Holy Communion – a very emotional experience and a wonderful way to celebrate the Easter weekend. In May, a covered dish dinner is hosted for those that are being confirmed that year and for young adults that are graduating from high school and college. The organization supports the youth of our church by paying for part of the camp fee, by cooking and providing food for vacation bible school.
Other activities that these ladies do is support the local food pantries with canned goods and other staples, visit, send cards, provide gifts at Christmas for the sick and shut-ins and have a bake sale in the fall. Several years ago the members started an annual project of making a quilt that is raffled off at their chili/chicken supper. The proceeds from this “mission” project are divided among charitable organizations. It is evident as how hard these ladies work and how much they care for our church – they are truly the “backbone” of Frieden’s.
Chili / Stew Supper held every year on the first Friday in February. We welcome all to come join us.
Join us each month for a monthly (third Thursday of each month) meeting beginning at 2:15 in the Fellowship Hall. We would love to have you!
Our Mission Work:
Collecting cards for the elderly in Nursing Homes (container is in narthex).
Collecting food items for the local Food Pantries (containers in the narthex).
School Supply items.
Collecting Hygiene items project.
This organization was started for the ladies that work and are unable to attend the regular afternoon meetings of the Women’s Fellowship.
This group also meets monthly (every first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm) and has a variety of projects in which they participate. Prepares “goodie” bags for the shut-ins at Easter, sends cards to the shut ins, prepares shoeboxes for the Samaritans’ Purse project, prepares and sell church birthday calendars, and sponsors one or two take out dinners. Proceeds from the take out dinners and the calendars are used to help the youth of our church by paying for part of their slumber falls camp fees.
